Update:
Mike Garafolo reports that the Giants are releasing DL Kenrick Ellis on Sunday to make room for their new additions.
Ellis, 27, is a former third round pick of the Jets back in 2011. He signed a one-year, $1.475 million contract that included $500,000 guaranteed with the Giants back in March.
In 2014, he appeared in 14 games for the Jets and recorded 12 tackles and a sack. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing just 158 snaps last year, but he did grade out as a solid run-stopper.

Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reports that the Giants were awarded DT Louis Nix and CB Asa Jackson off of waivers on Sunday.
The Texans somewhat surprisingly cut Nix loose just a year after taking him in the third-round of the 2014 draft.
Nix, 24, is entering the second year of his four-year, $2,852,252 rookie contract that included a $575,252 signing bonus. He was set to make base salaries of $530,000 (2015), $620,000 (2016),  and $710,000 (2018) over the remainder of the contract.
Nix didn’t appear in a single game during the entire 2014 season for the Texans.
