The Giants announced Tuesday that they’ve placed DTย Johnathan Hankinsย on season-ending injured reserve and promoted DTย Montori Hughes off their practice squad.
- The Giants also signed DT Louis Nix and LB Nico Johnson to their practice squad.
Hankins, 23, is in the third year of his four-year, $4.03 million contractย thatย included a $1.311 million signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary ofย $771,426 this season and another $954,639 in 2016.
Hankins had recorded 30ย tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defense for the Giants’ defense over the course of nineย games.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 defensive tackleย out of 70 qualifying players.
Nix, 24, wasย entering the second year of his four-year, $2,852,252 rookie contractย when he was among the Texans’ final roster from this past weekend.
The Giants elected to claim him off of waivers, butย he’s been on and off of their roster ever since.
Nix didn’t appear in a single game during the entireย 2014 season for the Texans.
