Giants Release S Stevie Brown, Sign S Craig Dahl

The New York Giants have surprisingly released veteran S Stevie Brown just a few days after signing him to a contract, according to the NFL transactions release.

The Giants are replacing Brown by signing veteran S Craig Dahl to a contract.

Brown, 28, signed a one-year, $825,000 contract that included a $40,000 signing bonus with the Texans back in April, but was officially released a little over a week ago.

In 2014, Brown appeared in all 16 games for the Giants last season and recorded 38 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 safety out of 87 qualifying players.

Last year, Dahl appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and recorded 23 tackles, an interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 184 total snaps to go along with a below-average rating overall.
