Giants Roster Cuts Including WR James Jones

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Giants are releasing veteran WR James Jones.

The Giants have either waived or released:

  • FB Henry Hynoski
  • P Steve Weatherford
  • Chris Boswell
  • LB Ashlee Palmer
  • WR Corey Washington

In 2014, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and caught 73 passes for 666 yards receiving and six touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 89 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

The Giants have released veteran FB Henry Hynoski, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Hynoski, 26, signed a two-year, $2.1 million contract with the Giants back in March. He was set to make a base salary of $775,000 for the 2015 season.

Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that the Giants have released veteran P Steve Weatherford, as they work to get their roster down to 53 players.

Weatherford, 32, had two years remaining on his five-year, $12.75 million contract that included a $3.25 million signing bonus. He was set to make base salaries of $2.175 million and $2.325 million over the next two years.

In 2014, Weatherford appeared in all 16 games and total 3,249 yard punting and six touchbacks for the Giants.
