Giants Sign DE Freedom Akinmoladun, Cut Two

The New York Giants announced on Tuesday they’ve signed DE Freedom Akinmoladun to a contract.

The Giants also waived K Joey Slye and S Jacob Thieneman (injured) to make room for Akinmoladun and OT Mike Remmers.

Should Thieneman clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the Giants’ injured reserve list.

Akinmoladun, 23, signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska following rookie minicamp. Undrafted free agents are expected to sign three-year, $1.755 million contracts in 2019.

During his college career at Nebraska, Akinmoladun recorded 106 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, a forced fumble and two pass defenses over the course of four seasons and 42 games.
