The New York Giants announced Friday that they’ve signed RB Javorius Allen and waived RB Jon Hilliman.
Indications are that Saquon Barkley should be able to return in Week 7, but the Giants’ depth behind him is still questionable, so it couldn’t hurt to add some veteran help moving forward.
Allen, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year rookie contract with the Ravens before agreeing to a contract with the Saints this past May.
The Saints placed Allen on injured reserve back in August before releasing him a few weeks later.
In 2018, Allen appeared in 14 games for the Ravens and rushed for 110 yards on 41 carries (2.7 YPC) to go along with 35 receptions for 196 yards receiving and five total touchdowns.
We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
