Adam Schefter is now reporting that there’s aย “high probability” that free-agent WR Jordy Nelson signs with the Raiders now that they’ve released veteran WR Michael Crabtree.
There were reports that the Raiders hadย seriousย competition from the Saints, whoย were making a “hard push” to Nelsonย along with theย Seahawks. However, this appeared to be aย Nelson trying to gain some leverage in his talks with the Raiders.
It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Nelson, 32, is a former second-round pick of the Packers back in 2008. He was entering the final year of his five-year, $43 million contract and set to make a base salary of $9.25 million for the 2018 season when the Packers released him in a move that freed upย $10,218,750 of available cap space.
In 2017, Nelson appeared in 15 games for the Packers and caught 53 passes for 482 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
