According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Jaguars and Panthers are both expected to bring back their head coaches for the 2019 season.
Regarding the Jaguars, Rapoport explains that owner Shad Khan is not panicking, even though the team followed up an impressive 2018 season by going 4-10. Rapoport adds that Khan isn’t looking for a scapegoat for the team’s struggles less than a year after signing everyone to extensions and instead plans to see it through.
The Jaguars are expected to be in the quarterback market after releasing Blake Bortles after the season and will need to find a new offensive coordinator, but the team still believes in Doug Marrone as their head coach.
As for the Panthers, Rapoport reports that owner David Tepper is expected to be patient. Panthers HC Ron Rivera has already made a significant change by taking over play-calling on defense. Much like the Jaguars, ownership believes in their current power structure to turn things around.
According to Rapoport, if Rivera were to be available, he would likely be one of the top head-coaching candidates, which adds to why Carolina would want to hold onto him.
