Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Jaguars recently restructured the contract of veteran G Andrew Norwell.
According to Yates, Jacksonville specifically agreed to fully guarantee $9 million of his $11.5 million non-guaranteed base salary. Yates says Norwell can earn back the remaining $2.5 million by reaching “realistic incentives.”
Norwell came up as a potential trade candidate this offseason. However, there was much buzz about him being moved other than that.
Norwell, 28, signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State back in 2014. He finished out his three-year, $1,542,000 deal with Carolina before agreeing to a one-year restricted tender worth $2.746 million for the 2017 season.
The Jaguars later signed Norwell to a five-year, $66.5 million contract that includes $30 million fully guaranteed in 2018.
In 2019, Norwell appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars, making 16 starts for them at guard. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 24 guard out of 80 qualifying players.
