According to Phillip Heilman, the Jaguars are trying out seven players at minicamp this week.
The list includes WR Tre McBride, RB Devante Mays, P Brock Miller, Dominick Bouagnon, DT Kalani Vakameilalo, P Joe Zema and WR Jordan Smallwood.
McBride, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Titans back in 2015. He spent over two years in Tennessee before he was waived at the start of the 2017 season and later claimed off of waivers by the Bears.
After brief stints with the Bears and Jets, McBride signed a futures contract with the Redskins this past January. Unfortunately, he was waived a few weeks ago.
In 2017, McBride appeared in eight games and caught eight passes for 144 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Smallwood, 24, wound up signing on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2017. Unfortunately, the Chiefs waived him coming out of the preseason.
Smallwood signed on to the 49ers’ practice squad last year and returned to San Francisco on a futures contract after the season. However, he was waived last month and eventually caught on with the Lions soon after. The Lions cut him last week.
During this four-year college career at Oklahoma, Smallwood caught 18 passes for 170 yards receiving and one touchdown to go along with four rushing attempts for 16 and two scores over the course of 21 games.
