Jaguars Waiving LBs Blair Brown & Donald Payne

According to Phillip Heilman, the Jaguars are waiving linebackers Blair Brown and Donald Payne on Thursday.

The Jaguars have also cut:

The Jaguars recently signed a number of linebackers including Ramik Wilson, Najee Goode and D.J. Alexander to contract in an attempt to overhaul the position.

Brown, 24, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2017. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2,694,715 contract and stands to make a base salary of $645,000 for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Brown appeared in 15 games for the Jaguars and recorded two tackles and a fumble recovery.

Payne, 24, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Stetson back in May of 2017. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later claimed off of waivers by the Jaguars.

Payne is in the second year of his three-year, $1.66 million contract and set to make a base salary of $645,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Payne appeared in eight games for the Jaguars and recorded one tackle and a fumble recovery.
