Jaguars Waiving Veteran S Barry Church

Phillip Heilman reports that the Jaguars are waiving veteran S Barry Church on Friday.

The writing has been on the wall for Church and his time in Jacksonville after he was a healthy inactive in recent weeks.

Church, 30, wound up signing on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract and later signed a four-year extension with Dallas.

The Jaguars signed Church to a four-year, $26 million contract that included $12 million last year. He stands to make base salaries of $5.75 million and $6.25 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Church will free up $6 million of available cap space for the Jaguars in 2019 while creating no dead money.

In 2018, Church has appeared in 11 games for the Jaguars and recorded 38 tackles, one sack, an interception and two pass defenses.
