Jarvis Landry Signing Franchise Tag, No Trade Close As Of Now

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry is signing franchise tag worth $16 million fully guaranteed. Rapoport adds that based on talks with several teams, Landry is being viewed as a No. 1 receiver.

This officially opens the door for him to be traded to another team.

According to Adam Schefter, no trade involving Landry is considered close at this point in time. However, Rapoport says that the belief is that a trade will be able to happen.

The Dolphins just recently granted Landry and his representation permission to seek out a trade with another team and the two parties are working to find him a new team.

According to Joe Schad, the Bears, Browns, Ravens and 49ers are among the potential destinations for Landry worth watching in the coming weeks.

Landry, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2014. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $3.5 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $893,852 for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Landry appeared in 16  games and caught 112 passes for 987 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. He has also contributed 81 kick return yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 19 receiver out of 119 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Landry as the news is available.
