According to Manish Mehta, the Jets have expressed interest in free agent OL Brett Jones.
The Jets are reportedly scheduled to host former Eagles OL Stefen Wisniewski on Tuesday, according to multiple reports, so New York is clearly in the market for interior offensive line help.
The expectation heading into free agency was that Jets were likely to sign one of Matt Paradis or Mitch Morse, but they didn’t get either and are now kicking the tires on some of the best available options.
This is the first reported interest in Jones since the free agent market officially opened.
Jones, 27, was selected in the second round of 2013 CFL draft by the Calgary Stampeders. In just two years with the Stampeders, Jones has won CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award (2013) and the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award (2014).
Jones signed on with the Giants back in 2015 and returned to New York on a one-year restricted deal worth $2.914 million for the 2018 season. The Giants later traded him to the Vikings in August for a 2019 seventh-round pick.
In 2018, Jones appeared in all 14 games for the Vikings and played 191 total snaps.
