Report: Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum Expected To Be “Relieved Of His Duties” Monday

According to a league source, Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum will likely be stripped of his duties Monday, per Lisa Zimmerman of CBSSports.com.

“As first reported on Sunday, according to a league source, Tannenbaum will be relieved of his duties as team owner Woody Johnson searches for a replacement,” writes Zimmerman.

Zimmerman would add that there is the Jets are considering reassigning Tannenbaum to another role within the organization.

With a record of 6-9 record heading into Sunday’s game against Buffalo, as well as the ever growing amount of Tim Tebow drama this season, Tannenbaum’s chances of being the Jets GM beyond this season were slim. Since taking over as GM in 2006, the Jets have only made the playoffs three times, which would warrant any team to consider making changes within it’s front office.

At this point, it’s unknown what Tannenbaum’s new role within the organization could be.
