Jets Place Original-Round Tender On RFA S Rontez Miles

Ralph Vacchiano reports that the Jets have placed an original-round tender on RFA S Rontez Miles.

The original-round tender gives the Jets the right of first refusal for any offer he signs with another team in free agency. However, the Jets would not receive any draft pick compensation if they were to decline to match the offer, considering that Miles was an undrafted free agent.

Miles, 29, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of California (PA) back in 2013. He was on and off of the Jets’ roster over first three years with the team before managing to spend the last two years on the 53-man unit.

In 2017, Miles appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 25 tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses.
