According to Ian Rapoport, the Jets have requested permission to interview Saints DB coach Aaron Glenn for their head coaching vacancy.
The interview is expected to happen sometime next week.
Glenn has been connected to defensive coordinator openings the past few years. In fact, the Saints reportedly blocked him from interviewing for the Bengals’ defensive coordinator job in 2018.
The Jets candidate list includes:
- Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith (Requested)
- Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus (Requested)
- Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy (Interviewed)
- Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll (Requested)
- Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley (Requested)
- Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham (Requested)
- Saints secondary coach Aaron Glenn (Requested)
Glenn, 48, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 1994. He played 15 seasons for the Jets, Texans, Cowboys, Jaguars and Saints.
Glenn began his NFL coaching career with the Browns back in 2014 as their assistant defensive backs coach. From there, the Saints hired him two years later as their defensive backs coach and he’s remained in New Orleans ever since.
