According to Ian Rapoport, the Jets have put in an interview request with Saints director of pro scouting Terry Fontenot.
Fontenot would be the fifth name that’s come up as a serious candidate to be the next general manager of the Jets. Rapoport says Fontenot has earned a good reputation in league circles for his help building the Saints’ roster.
The Jets have also scheduled or requested interviews with Seattle’s Scott Fitterer, Chicago’s Champ Kelly, Minnesota’s George Paton and Philadelphia’s Joe Douglas.
Fontenot has been with the Saints for the past 16 seasons, including six as the director of pro scouting and seven as a pro scout.
Fontenot played four years as a safety at Tulane. He graduated with a degree in business and organizational information technology and got his start with the Saints shortly after.
