Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are signing Ravens ILB C.J. Mosley to a five-year, $85 million contract that includes $51M guaranteed.
Reports from last night said that Mosley wanted to stay in Baltimore, but the Ravens had to get close in terms of money. However, this offer from the Jets is extremely strong and resets the market for inside linebackers.
The Browns, Lions, Colts, Eagles, and Redskins were also in the market for Mosley.
The Ravens made the decision to pass on franchising Mosley last week, paving the way for him to test the open market. It would have cost Baltimore over $15 million fully guaranteed to franchise Mosley.
Mosley, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $8,788,002 rookie contract before the Ravens picked up his fifth-year option last year.
Mosley made a base salary of $8,718,000 for the 2018 season.
In 2018, Mosley appeared in 15 games for the Ravens and recorded 105 tackles, a half sack, an interception and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 receiver out of 93 qualifying players.
We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
