New York Jets GM John Idzik announced Monday that they will suspend CB Dimitri Patterson indefinitely after he surprisingly skipped the teamโs third preseason game.
GM John Idzik: โ[Patterson] will be suspended indefinitely, and that will allow us to gather more information to what led to his behavior.โ โ New York Jets (@nyjets) August 25, 2014
Idzik did say that he expects Pattersonโs suspension to be โbrief.โ
Patterson texted ESPNโs Josina Anderson earlier in the day and said that he was okay and wasnโt going AWOL. He referred to the situation as โcomical,โ but it appears as though the Jets donโt see this as a laughing matter.
Patterson, 30, was cut loose by the Dolphins earlier in the offseason. The Jets signed him to a one-year contract worth $3 million back in April and were hoping that he could solidify one of their corner positions.
Last year, Miami placed him on season-ending injured reserve with a groin injury back in December. He totaled 19 tackles, one sack and four interceptions for the Dolphins last season.
