Jets Suspend CB Dimitri Patterson For The Remainder Of The Preseason

Update:

The Jets announced that they have suspended CB Dimitri Patterson for the remainder of the preseason, but didnโ€™t disclose and addition suspension.

New York Jets GM John Idzik announced Monday that they will suspend CB Dimitri Patterson indefinitely after he surprisingly skipped the teamโ€™s third preseason game.

Idzik did say that he expects Pattersonโ€™s suspension to be โ€œbrief.โ€

Patterson texted ESPNโ€™s Josina Anderson earlier in the day and said that he was okay and wasnโ€™t going AWOL. He referred to the situation as โ€œcomical,โ€ but it appears as though the Jets donโ€™t see this as a laughing matter.

Patterson, 30, was cut loose by the Dolphins earlier in the offseason. The Jets signed him to a one-year contract worth $3 million back in April and were hoping that he could solidify one of their corner positions.

Last year, Miami placed him on season-ending injured reserve with a groin injury back in December. He totaled 19 tackles, one sack and four interceptions for the Dolphins last season.
