It looks as though the New York Jets were showcasing Kellen Clemens on Monday night because sources are suggesting that Jets are willing to move Clemens before the start of the season. Now that the team has brought in veteran QB Mark Brunell and drafted Mark Sanchez, there is little room or snaps for Clemens.
The Jets attempted to trade Clemens during the NFL draft but couldn’t find any takers. If the Jets find a team willing to extend them a competitive offer, he’ll be on his way out of town.
Rex Ryan commented on the quarterback situation by saying, “We knew we were going to go with Brunell [as the permanent No. 2]. I wanted to play Kellen,” Ryan said. “We just threw him in there in that situation. He showed himself well.”
Clemens is due to receive $1.1 million this year which is rather high for a No. 3 quarterback.
