The Cardinals put out their first official depth chart of the season today. There’s no shocking development here, but quarterback Kevin Kolb is listed as number one on their depth chart with John Skelton as number two.
Mike Sando of ESPN.com thinks the 2012 season could make or break Kolb’s long-term future in Arizona, which coincides with our “Make or Break” post.
“Kolb’s contract will force the team to make a decision on his status after the 2012 season. It’s important for the team to find out for sure whether Kolb can be the quarterback Arizona thought it was getting by trade last offseason.”
It took the Cardinals to trade Dominique Rodgers-Cromartieย and a 2012 second-round pick to the acquire Kolb. Following the trade the Cards handed him a $65 million contract. Kolb lost his starting job last season due injury, but with his inconsistent play, Kolb could be on a short leash this season with Skelton ready to step in at any time.
