Update:
Vikings WR Stefon Digg showed up to practice on Thursday after skipping Wednesday’s session.
Diggs was asked about the speculation that he wants to be traded.
“I feel there’s truth to all rumors no matter how dress you it up. I won’t be saying nothing on it. I won’t be speaking on it at all. But there is truth to all rumors, I guess.’’ Diggs said, per Chris Tomasson.
“The space that we’re in right now is definitely is a lot of questions,” Diggs added. “I can’t sit up here and act like everything is OK because obviously it’s not but I can say at this point I’m just trying to work through it.”
Regarding whether he wants to be traded, Diggs said he hasn’t communicated anything to the Vikings.
“I haven’t communicated anything. Moreso the conversations I’ve had have only been about team and trying to have success on the field,” Diggs said, per Courtney Cronin.
According to Diggs, he hasn’t spoken to his agent about a potential trade.
“I haven’t spoke to him about it. You’ve got to talk to him,” Diggs said, per Cronin.
Diggs did say that he “loves it here” when asked if he wants to be traded, but admitted that he has some frustration right now.
“[I]f you want to win and you’re not winning, of course you’re going to be frustrated,” Diggs said, per Andrew Krammer.
Diggs mentioned that he plans to play on Sunday against the Giants, but added: “I hope they let me play. I like football. I want to be a part of playing football on Sunday.’’
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Stefon Diggs‘ frustration with the Vikings organization has been “palpable.”
This comes after Diggs was absent from Wednesday’s practice for non-injury reasons.
Rapoport says that Diggs’ teammates are left wondering if he wants to be there. However, the Vikings remain “adamant” that he is not available for trade, barring a massive deal.
- Meanwhile, Ben Goessling reports that Diggs wasn’t in the building on Monday either. Sources have described the situation as “disenchantment with the organization.”
- Last night, Tom Curran of NBC Boston, citing a league source with knowledge of the situation, reports that the Vikings have no plans to trade Diggs.
- Josina Anderson spoke to a team who would “definitely be interested” in trading for Diggs who said they have been informed Minnesota will not be trading him.
The Vikings move to a run-heavy offense has directly impacted Diggs’ role and opportunities this season. Even so, Diggs is still affordable by recent market value prices and trading him away now would still result in a $9 million dead money cap hit in 2020.
Diggs, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2015. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when he agreed to a five-year extension worth $72 million with the Vikings last year.
Diggs stands to make base salaries of $8.9 million and $10.9 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2019, Diggs has appeared in four games for the Vikings and caught 13 passes for 209 yards receiving and one touchdown.
We’ll have more regarding Diggs as the news is available.
