Adam Schefter is reporting that the New England Patriots have just traded Laurence Maroney to the Denver Broncos. The Broncos have sent a fourth-round pick in return for Maroney and a sixth-round selection.
It’s interesting that the Broncos decided to trade for Maroney now given that Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter are back from injury. The two had suffered injuries early on in the preseason and looked like the team would have to make a move then to shore up their backfield.
Maroney found himself falling down the Patriots depth chart in recent weeks and seemed to have little value to the team. This isn’t the first Patriot that Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels has gone after and in all likelihood isn’t his last.
