Lions Activate DE Armonty Bryant From Exempt List

The Detroit Lions announced Saturday that they’ve activated DE Armonty Bryant from the Commissioner’s Exempt list.

  • Lions signed RB Mike James to their practice squad.

Bryant, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Browns back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.221 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

The Browns elected to waive him recently and was claimed by the Lions earlier in the week after severing a suspension to open the year. Bryant was once again suspended three games for violating the NFL’s substances of abuse policy, which led to the Lions placing him on the reserve/suspended list earlier in the month.

Detroit later received a roster exemption for Bryant and had a few weeks to activate him.

In 2016, Bryant has appeared in four games for the Lions and recorded five tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble.
