Lions Place TE David Ausberry On I.R. & Sign CB Jocquel Skinner

The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that they’ve placed TE David Ausberry on season-ending injured reserve and signed CB Jocquel Skinner to a contract.

Ausberry, 27, is a former seventh round pick of the Raiders back in 2011. He wound up playing out his rookie contract with Oakland before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.Detroit later signed him to a contract back in June.

In 2014, Ausberry appeared in six games for the Raiders and caught two passes for 14 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has Ausberry down for playing just 36 total snaps last season.

Skinner, 23, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Bethel (TN) back in 2014. He lasted just a month with the team before he was waived/injured. However, the Buccaneers later signed him to a future/reserve contract at the end of last season before waiving him before the draft.

The Panthers later signed Skinner to a contract only to release him just a few weeks later.
