Lions Promote RB Paul Perkins To Active Roster

The Lions announced they have promoted RB Paul Perkins from the practice squad to the active roster.

Perkins takes the place of RB Kerryon Johnson, who went on injured reserve with a knee injury yesterday.

Detroit also re-signed RB Wes Hills to the practice squad.

Perkins, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Giants back in 2016. The Giants waived Perkins with a non-football injury designation last year and he later reverted to their injured reserve list.

New York elected to cut Perkins loose last month and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Lions. Detroit waived him earlier this year before re-signing him to the practice squad.

In 2017, Perkins appeared in 11 games for the Giants and rushed for 90 yards on 41 carries (2.2 YPC) to go along with eight receptions for 46 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
