Lions Re-Sign WR Andy Jones To PS, Release TE Hakeem Valles

The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday that they’ve signed WR Andy Jones to their practice squad and released TE Hakeem Valles from the unit.

Here’s the Lions updated practice squad:

  1. CB Mike Ford
  2. WR Chris Lacy
  3. QB Jake Rudock
  4. DT John Atkins
  5. C Leo Koloamatangi
  6. G Jamil Demby
  7. CB Dee Virgin
  8. TE Hakeem Valles
  9. LB Garrett Dooley (Injured)
  10. TE Jerome Cunningham
  11. DB Horace Richardson

Jones, 24, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville back in 2016. He spent his rookie season on the Cowboys’ practice squad and returned to Dallas on a futures contract the following year.

The Cowboys waived Jones coming out of the preseason last year and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Texans. He later joined the Lions before eventually being promoted to their active roster in December of last year.

Jones was placed on the PUP list coming out of the preseason and just recently activated. Detroit waived him on Monday.

In 2017, Jones has appeared in one game for the Texans but has yet to record a statistic.
