Lions Release RB Tra Carson From Injured Reserve

The Detroit Lions announced Friday that they’ve released RB Tra Carson from injured reserve.

Detriot placed Carson on injured reserve last Saturday, so this clearly wasn’t a major injury for him.

Carson, 26, originally signed on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M back in 2016. After being waived and signed to their practice squad, Carson was eventually promoted to the Bengals’ active roster.

Carson was in the final year of a three-year, $1.47 million contract when he was waived with an injury designation. The Bengals later cut Carson loose with an injury settlement and he eventually signed on to the Packers’ practice squad.

Green Bay waived Carson coming out of the preseason and re-signed him to their taxi squad. The Packers later waived him and he was claimed by the Lions.

In 2019, Carson has appeared in three games for the Packers and Lions and rushed for 48 yards on 18 carries (2.7 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 18 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
