Lions Sign RB Jonathan Williams, Waive RB Wes Hills

The Lions announced Monday they have signed RB Jonathan Williams and waived RB Wes Hills in a corresponding move.

Williams, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bills back in 2016. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract when the Bills waived him coming out of the preseason.

Williams had a brief stint on to the Broncos’ practice squad before joining the Saints in 2018. New Orleans cut Williams coming out of the preseason last year and he had a brief stint on their practice squad before he was signed to the Colts’ taxi squad. He was promoted to the active roster later in the year.

In 2019, Williams appeared in nine games and rushed for 235 yards on 49 carries (4.8 YPC) and one touchdown. He also caught five passes for 59 yards.
