According to Howard Balzer, the Detroit Lions brought in seven free agents for tryouts on Friday including WRs Tanner McEvoy and Chad Hansen.
- WR Chad Hansen
- WR Tanner McEvoy
- WR Hunter Sharp
- TE Khari Lee
- TE Marcus Lucas
- TE Tyrone Swoopes
- CB Denzel Rice
McEvoy, 25, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in 2016. He’s currently in the final year of his rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $630,000 for the 2018 season.
The Seahawks waived McEvoy and he quickly signed with the Saints. However, he was among New Orleans’ final roster cuts and later claimed by the Dolphins.
McEvoyย returned to the Saints and had a brief stint on their practice squad.
In 2017, McEvoy appeared in 15 games for the Seahawks and caught five passes for 113 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Hansen, 23, was selected with the No. 141 overall pick by the Jets in last year’s NFL draft. He was entering the second year of his four-year rookie contract worth $2,819,648 when the Jets elected to waive him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit.
The Patriots claimed him off of waivers shortly after but elected to waive last month. Hansen had a brief stint on the Titans’ practice squad.
Since becoming a free agent, Hansen has worked out for theย Rams, Colts, and Bengals, but left each meeting without a contract.
In 2017, Hansen appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded nine receptions for 94 yards (10.4 YPC) and no touchdowns.
