Adam Schefter reports that multiple teams approached the Chicago Bears at the combine last week and discussed a potential trade for RB Jordan Howard.
According to Schefter, trade talks between the Bears and interested teams are currently ongoing.
Jason La Canfora first reported that the Bears are shopping Howard in trade talks at the Scouting Combine.
Howard’s name came up as a potential trade candidate last year, but the Bears elected to hold onto him.
There have been questions about Howard’s overall fit in HC Matt Nagy’s offensive system, which is why it’s not all that surprising to hear that the Bears have made him available.
Howard, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bears back in 2016. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $2.588 million contract set to make a base salary of $720,000 for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Howard appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and rushed for 935 yards on 250 carries (3.7 YPC) and nine touchdowns. He also caught 20 passes for 145 yards receiving.
