According to Jordan Raanan, there is mutual interest between the Giants and DB Logan Ryan.
Raanan says the Giants have been monitoring Ryan since the start of free agency but the veteran’s asking price has been a factor.
Even though the Giants have plenty of cap space and a major need in the secondary, they don’t want to overpay and limit what they can roll over to 2021.
However, Ryan’s roots in the Patriots system of defense would make him a fit with what new Giants HC Joe Judge is building.
Ryan announced this offseason he intends to convert to safety. The Browns have also expressed interest in Ryan as training camp draws to a close.
Ryan, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Patriots back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,773,252 contract with the Patriots before agreeing to a three-year, $30 million contract with the Titans in 2017.
Ryan made base salaries of $10 million and $9.5 million the past two seasons.
In 2019, Ryan appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and recorded 113 tackles, 4.5 sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and 18 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 62 cornerback out of 113 qualifying players.
We have him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
