NFC Notes: 49ers, Packers, Seahawks

49ers

  • According to Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News, the 49ers should be able to sign first-round DE Nick Bosa and second-round WR Deebo Samuel before camp, as the team hasn’t had a rookie holdout since the rookie wage scale began in 2011.
  • Inman expects LB Kwon Alexander and CB Jason Verrett to be healthy for the start of training camp.
  • Inman notes Nick Mullens is ahead of C.J. Beathard for the backup quarterback job based on Mullens’ performance in 2018.

Packers

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers mentioned in his interview with Chris Simms that he believes OL Billy Turner will be a “great addition” to their offense.

“The guy who won’t get a lot of pub but I’m trying to pub him every chance I can is Bill Turner,” Rodgers said, via Pro Football Talk. “He’s going to be a great addition for us. He is going to be a really good addition. He’s a big tough dude, fits in really well, good athlete. He can move in our system because we’re running off the ball. He’s going to be a big part of what we are doing up front because Matt wants to run the ball.”

Seahawks

  • Though extension talks between the Seahawks and LB Bobby Wagner are quiet, the Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta believes that means things are on pace for the two to agree to a deal right before the start of training camp.
  • Wagner is representing himself and reportedly seeking to top Jets LB C.J. Mosley‘s $17 million per season as the highest-paid inside linebacker.
  • Condotta expects Tyler Lockett, David Moore and Jaron Brown to open as the Seahawks’ starters at wide receiver, with rookies D.K. Metcalf and Gary Jennings working in as they develop.
  • Condotta believes DE Ezekiel Ansah and TE Will Dissly will start training camp on the PUP list. It’s unclear if Ansah will be recovered enough from a shoulder injury for the start of the regular season.
  • According to Condotta, S Bradley McDougald has one starting safety spot locked up, with Tedric Thompson, Delano Hill and fourth-round rookie Marquise Blair competing for the other spot.
  • RB C.J. Prosise, who has missed 32 of a possible 48 games due to injury, still has a chance to secure the third-down running back position, per Condotta.
  • Condotta adds former third-round WR Amara Darboh has a chance to steal a roster spot in his third season.
