Bears
Bears LB Montez Sweat felt liberated after receiving a four-year, $98 million contract extension just days after being traded to Chicago, and further proved himself by posting six sacks in nine games with the team.
โYeah, just like any athlete who wants to get paid and get that money secured, it was a big relief,โ Sweat said, via NFL.com. โI think it allowed me to play more free and more loose.โ
Packers
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst expects the team to sign QB Jordan Love to a long-term extension this offseason.
โI think we will go down that road,โ Gutekunst said, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. โCertainly, I think thatโll be important for our football team to have some stability there. Jordan and his representation, theyโre really good people, so we will start working towards that sometime in the next couple of months.โ
Gutekunst said Love is the quarterback of the future in Green Bay.
โJordan had a really good season toward the end, especially the second half and we are really excited to build around him,โ Gutekunst said. โI think just the way he led our football team through the tough times, through the success, all the challenges that a season kind of brings you, he did a really good job leading those guys. I think for a young player in his first year thatโs trying to figure it all out, I think that was exceptional.โ
Vikings
Vikings DE Danielle Hunter had a career-high 16.5 sacks in 2023 and isn’t sure where he will end up next season as an impending free agent.
โStaying in shape, doing my part, and then when the time comes, my agent or the Vikings, theyโll come to a decision,โ Hunter said, via NFL.com. โWeโll see whatโs best when the time comes.โ
