Kevin Aceeย of the the San Diego Union-Tribune writes that they see the San Diego Chargers going with aย tandemย running game in 2011 that would include Ryan Mathews and Mike Tolbert.
The Chargers seem to ready to move on without Darren Sproles which will leave more carries to be distributed between Tolbert and Mathews. Acee mentions that Curtis Brinkley could be someone that use once in while but mentions that the team could keep him on the practice squad.
The idea seems logical but will leave them with limited depth at the position. Remember that Mathews missed plenty of time this season and an injury to Mike Tolbert would force them to lean on other options. ย Tolbet is also set to become a restricted free agent this offseason so they will have to address that before they can worry about distributing carries.
