New Orleans Times-Picayune’s Jeff Duncan has full confidence that the New Orleans Saints will elect to go with Jimmy Graham as their starting tight end heading into 2011. Duncan goes on the suggest that the Saints could end releasing Jeremy Shockey and re-sign David Thomas to be their backup tight end.
Graham turned into a solid player for the Saints this season and his promise far surprises what the production that Shockey has been able to bring to Saints over the last few years. David Thomas has been an unheralded player for the Saints and will likely be one of the players that they attempt to re-sign. Considering the money that Shockey is due for the upcoming season and rise of their younger tight ends, it would make sense for the Saints to release him and reallocate the money to other needs like their secondary.
