According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, there is a growing belief around the league that Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha no longer cares about the game like he use to.
“Thereโs also a theory making its way through league circles (and the locker room) that Asomugha doesnโt care about the game like he used to,” Florio wrote. “Regardless of how he feels about football, he no longerย playsย like he used to.”
Asomugha isn’t nearly the corner now that he once was when he was a shutting down opposing receivers for the Raiders. Whether that is due to age (31) or the fact that he simply doesn’t care anymore will remain to be seen.
The main focus around the Eagles struggles so far this year has been on Michael Vick, Andy Reid, and former defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. Yesterday was the first game the defense played under new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and the defense didn’t show much resistance, as they gave up 30 points in a loss to the Falcons. If the Eagles don’t turn their season around in a hurry, more players, like Asomugha, could come under fire for their performance.
