SI.com’s Peter King mentions that that are “many more football people” that see the Jets recent trade for Tim Tebow as a “dumb idea than those who think it’s smart.”
“Just watch it ruin Mark Sanchez,” said an NFL GM. “He can’t take the booing as it is. With Tebow subbing for him every game and the pressure to get the ball to Santonio Holmes, Sanchez will crack.”
Jets head coach Rex Ryan has said that he would like to give Tebow 20 snaps per game, which isn’t going to help Sanchez get in much of a groove offensively. Ryan mentioned that would like to use Tebow “with the field spread, near the goal line (and) on two-point conversions,” which does play to his strengths, but will only intensify the calls for him to start if Sanchez continues to struggle.
