Packers Interviewing Dolphins STs Coordinator Darren Rizzi

Tom Pelissero reports that the Packers scheduled to interview Dolphins special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi for their vacancy on Matt LaFleurโ€™s staff.

The Dolphins are interested in retaining Rizzi, but Pelissero says that theyโ€™ve given him permission to explore other options.

The Vikings are also interested in Rizzi, according to recent reports.

Rizzi actually interviewed for the Dolphinsโ€™ head-coaching and is very respected by members of the team.

Rizzi, 48, began his coaching career at Colgate back in 1993. He worked for a number of schools before being hired as Rhode Islandโ€™s head coach for the 2008 season.

Rizzi lasted just one year at Rhode Island and led the team to a record of 3-9 before he was replaced.

The Dolphins hired Rizzi as their special teams coordinator in 2010 and heโ€™s remained in the position ever since.

According to FootballOutsiders, the Dolphinsโ€™ special teams unit ranked No. 21 in the league.
