Packers Place RB Aaron Jones On IR, Sign WR Allen Lazard Off Jaguars’ PS

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Packers have placed RB Aaron Jones on injured reserve and signed WR Allen Lazard off of the Jaguars’ practice squad on Tuesday.

Jones, 24, was taken in the fifth-round of last year’s draft by the Packers. He signed a four-year, $2.6 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $645,000 and $735,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

Jones served a two-game suspension for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse to open the season.

In 2018, Jones appeared in 12 games for the Packers and rushed for 728 yards on 133 carries (5.5 YPC) to go along with 26 receptions for 206 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.

Lazard, 23, wound up signing on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in May. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Jaguars, but was waived coming out of the preseason.

The Jaguars later re-signed Lazard to their practice squad after he cleared waivers.

During his college career at Iowa State, Lazard caught 241 passes for 3,360 yards receiving and 26 touchdowns over the course of four seasons and 48 games.
