Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinelย reports that the Green Bay Packers and C Scott Wells “still have not found common ground” in regards to a contract extension.
Wells is said to be looking for a pretty sizable contract ($7.5 million per season) and the Packers have shown interest in retaining but it appears as though he’ll be allowed to test the open market. Previous reports have mentioned that the Packers could be interested in signing Texans C Chris Meyers but that goes against the Packers strategy of drafting and developing players while staying away from high priced free agents.
Drafting aย versatileย line man makes sense but I wouldn’t give up on the idea that Wells could be re-signed at some point.
