Packers To Exercise DT Kenny Clark’s Fifth-Year Option

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst told reporters on Monday that he expects to pick up DT Kenny Clark‘s fifth-year option in the coming weeks.

“I would expect that would happen,” Gutekunst said, per Rob Devomsky. “He’s a dominant player on the defensive front.”

Clark has emerged as one of the Packers’ best players and should be someone to watch for a long-term extension in the coming years.

Clark, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $9.3 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1.7 million for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Clark appeared in 13 games for the Packers and recorded 55 tackles, six sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
