Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com reports that the Packers are expected to waive RB Jhurell Pressley on Wednesday and promote a player from their practice squad.
According to Wood, there are indications that Pressley could be re-signed next week.
Teams tend to make roster moves like this to bolster their depth at a certain position for their upcoming game and then look to bring them back the following week.
The Packers’ practice squad currently consists of:
- WR Geronimo AllisonÂ
- LB Carl BradfordÂ
- TEÂ Devon CajusteÂ
- OLB Reggie GilbertÂ
- G Blake MuirÂ
- G Lucas PatrickÂ
- DT Brian Price
- WR Herb WatersÂ
- CB Jermaine Whitehead
- RB Don Jackson
Pressley, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of New Mexico back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out the preseason but was later claimed off of waivers by the Packers.
Pressley had a decent preseason for the Vikings rushing for 80 yards on 28 carries and returned a kickoff 106 yards for a touchdown.
During his four years at the University of New Mexico, Pressley ran for 2,725 yards on 394 carries (6.92 YPC) to go along with 35 touchdowns.
