HC Ron Rivera said on Monday he was looking forward to getting Tolbert back given that he is an important part of their offensive attack, so this move shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Tolbert, 28, unfortunately suffered a hairline fracture in his left leg just a few weeks into the season. He’s in the third year of his four-year, $8.4 million contract that included $2.7 million guaranteed. Tolbert will make a base salary of $2.3 million for the 2014 season.
Chandler, 25, started all 11 games at right tackle this season. He underwent an MRI Monday after his knee swelled up following Sunday’s loss to the Falcons.
The Panthers signed him to a four-year, $5.12 million contract extension that included $1.87 million guaranteed back in June, so he’s under team control for another three years.
