According to Ian Rapoport, the Panthers have moved former RB coach Jake Peetz to QB coach under new HC Matt Rhule.
Retaining Peetz from the previous staff has been a priority for the Panthers, as they blocked him from interviewing with the Redskins and former Panthers HC Ron Rivera.
Carolina has also hired former Redskins TE coach Brian Angelichio to the same position. Yahoo Sports Pete Thamel reports Baylor co-offensive coordinator and RB coach Jeff Nixon is joining the Panthers coaching staff as well in a role to be determined.
Peetz, 36, began his NFL career with the Jaguars as a scouting assistant back in 2008. He eventually worked his way up to offensive assistant before taking jobs at Alabama and with the Redskins.
The Raiders hired him as their senior offensive assistant in 2015 and eventually promoted him to QB coach in 2017. After Oakland changed head coaches, Peetz was reportedly a candidate to be Josh McDaniels‘ offensive coordinator with the Colts before McDaniels backed out.
Peetz returned to Alabama for a year as an offensive analyst before being hired by the Panthers as their RB coach in 2019.
