Patriots Release WRs Jeremy Johnson & Reese Wiggins

The New England Patriots announced that they have released receivers Jeremy Johnson and Reese Wiggins on Thursday.

The Patriots are really deep at receiver as they head into training camp, so it’s really not all that surprising to see a few rookie free agents waived.

Johnson, 22, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Methodist back in May 27. He caught 196 receptions for 1,936 yards and 10 touchdowns over the course of his four-year college career.

Wiggins, 23, also was signed as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina this May. He totaled 80 receptions for 1,012 yards and eight touchdowns during his four years at East Carolina.

It will be interesting to see if New England makes a few roster moves in the coming days.
