Patriots Sign OT Ryker Mathews To Futures Deal

The New England Patriots officially signed OT Ryker Mathews to a futures contract for the 2019 season on Monday.

As of now, the Patriots have signed three players to futures deals including:

  1. C Jake Eldrenkamp
  2. DT David Parry
  3. OT Ryker Mathews

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Mathews, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of BYU back in 2016. He was unfortunately waived with an injury designation a few months later before reverting to the team’s injured reserve list.

The Saints would later cut Mathews from injured reserve with an injury settlement at the start of the 2016 season.

Mathews has yet to appear in an NFL game.
