Patriots Sign RB Brandon Bolden To A Two-Year, $2.32M Extension

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots have signed RB Brandon Bolden to a two-year, $2.32 million contract extension.

  • This will keep Bolden under team control through the 2016 season.

Yates mentions that Bolden is one of the team’s top special team’s contributors, but it is interesting to see them lock up a running back not named Shane Vereen or Steven Ridley given that they will be unrestricted free agents.

New England added LeGarrette Blount during the season and even draft James White last year, so it will be interesting to see if they retrain either Vereen or Ridley in the coming months.

Bolden, 24, was set to be a restricted free agent as he’s finishing up his three-year, $1.455 million rookie contract. This season, Bolden appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and ran for 89 yards on 28 carries (3.2 YPC) to go along with one touchdown.
