Patriots Sign WR Cameron Meredith, Place Him On PUP List

Update:

Field Yates reports that the Patriots have placed WR Cameron Meredith on the active/PUP list upon signing him to a contract.

Meredith will count against the Patriots’ 90-man roster and can be activated at any time.

Jim McBride, citing a league source, reports that the Patriots are signing WR Cameron Meredith to a contract on Friday.

According to McBride, Meredith is not expected to travel with the Patriots to Detroit for their joint practices and preseason game next week.

Josina Anderson reported earlier in the day that Meredith was in the New England area now after visiting with the Patriots in recent days and was “vying to become the Patriots’ newest wide receiver.”

Meredith, 26, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois State back in May of 2015. He played out the final year of his three-year, $1.581 million contract before agreeing to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Saints during the offseason.

Earlier this offseason, he agreed to a pay cut that reduced his base salary from $3.4 million to $1.3 million and his cap hit to $4.15 million, saving the Saints $2.1 million.

The Saints released Meredith earlier in the week.

In 2018, Meredith appeared in six games and caught nine passes for 114 yards receiving and one touchdown.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
